New Restaurant, Rockliffe Hall & Spa

Our collaboration with Brims Construction at Rockliffe Hall in Hurworth, Darlington, has brought another complex project to a successful close.

Our team expertly fabricated and installed the 46-tonne structural frame, which included a distinctive stone support system at the eaves, showcasing our ability to handle intricate and unique designs.

We also supplied new lintels to support the existing Old Hall structure during its refurbishment as well as the lifting and placement of the roof decking.

Bishop Auckland Bus Station, Bishop Auckland

In another collaboration with Esh Construction, we completed a local project right here in Bishop Auckland.

Though it was a smaller 27-tonne job, it featured some unique and challenging details.

We created and fabricated the Glulam roof support columns that had a distinctive cruciform pattern and circular timber sections, which demanded extremely tight tolerances.

Stansted Vets

We partnered with a new client, Rose Builders, on the Stansted Vets project. We fabricated and installed the 53t two-storey structure, which included a unique eaves detail. All steel was produced at our Bishop Auckland facility.

In addition to hot and cold-rolled steel, we also handled the lifting of the PCC lift shafts and hollowcore flooring.

T-Skills Centre, New College Durham

We were thrilled to partner with Esh Construction on this large and complex project.

Our team successfully fabricated and delivered a 162-tonne, two-story structure complete with cellular beams, unique feature bracing, and an architectural rooflight system.

Overcoming mechanical challenges along the way, our dedicated team finished the project to an excellent standard, showcasing their skill and commitment.

Teescraft Phase 3, Bishop Auckland

For the third time, we partnered with Teescraft to help with their expansion in Bishop Auckland.

We handled the entire process for their new building—designing, supplying, fabricating, and installing a 64t structural frame.

The new structure, which includes a two-story office and a large open-plan shed with a material storage extension, was built to accommodate their unprecedented growth.

Our client was thrilled with the outcome, just as they have been with all our previous projects.

Integrated Diagnostic Centre, South Tyneside Hospital

Working with our partners at Brims Construction, we supplied, fabricated, and installed a 68t structural frame for a new building at South Tyneside Hospital.

The project included some intricate design features, like the powder-coated compound RHS columns at the entrance, which we custom-built from six separate columns.

We're proud to have completed the project on time, exceeding our client's expectations for quality and workmanship.

AV Dawson new Head Office, Port of Middlesbrough

Our First collaboration with Brims Construction in a number of years.

We were thrilled to work with them on AV Dawson's new Head Office at the Port of Middlesbrough, where we fabricated and installed the 170t structural frame.

This project highlights our team's expertise in handling large-scale installations with precision and delivering a high quality structural steel frame which will stand the test of time.

Allen Street, Sheffield

We partnered with Warden Construction once again on this significant project in Sheffield: a 475t student accommodation block.

Beyond the steel frame, our team also supplied and fitted the edge protection system. By detailing this system directly in our Tekla model, we ensured a smooth and coordinated installation on-site.

The photo was taken five weeks into our 17-week program, showing our progress about a third of the way through.

Newcastle Central Mosque for Vertex Design & Build 

Working with Vertex Design & Build, we successfully fabricated and installed the complex 240t steel frame consiting of curved members and cellular beams for the new Newcastle Central Mosque, a high-profile, community-funded project.

The structure was built within a four-meter-deep concrete cellar, which meant we had to lift our crane and cherry pickers into the pit.

Our precise surveys and attention to dimensional accuracy ensured the frame fit perfectly on the first try, allowing us to complete the project on time and on schedule.

The project was totally funded by the community, through donation, making it a very high-profile project as well as drawing a lot of interest from everyone concerned.

Sterling Pharma, Cramlington

In collaboration with Tolent Construction, we completed a 140-tonne steel mainframe for Sterling Pharma Solutions in Cramlington.

This new structure is a crucial expansion for the business, which specializes in small molecule API development and manufacturing.

Our team successfully met the demanding schedule, ensuring the new manufacturing facility was delivered on time and ready for operation.

Aklam Medical Centre, Middlesbrough

In collaboration with Tolent Construction, we completed the 220t structural steel frame for Acklam Hall Medical Centre.

This project was a key step in building a facility that now provides vital surgical, medical, and assessment services for the local community.

Quorn Manufacturing Facility, Billingham

We successfully completed the Quorn Manufactuing Facility with the main structure being a total 370t for Galliford Try.

Despite various design changes, the project was well-managed and delivered to the site on time. Erection began in June 2017 with a six-week program forecast.

AFC Fylde - Lancashire

We completed the AFC Fylde stadium project for Warden Construction coming in at 330t.

We managed the steel from start to finish.

Our team at South Durham Structures managed all the detailing, fabrication, and erection, and even applied the top-coat paint on-site.

The stadium is now fully functional and features a 6,000-seat arena, a sports bar, an 80-seat restaurant with a roof terrace, and a 40-seat café and conference facilities.
